Publishing Options
Two publishing models are available to authors:
Traditional and Hybrid
The essential steps required to professionally publish books are the same for both models:
- Editing
- Cover design
- Interior design
- Proofreading
- Copyright filing
- Metadata management
- Book production in one or more formats (i.e., print, e-book, audio book)
- Distribution
The primary differences between our traditional and hybrid models are:
- Author contribution to up-front publishing costs
- Author royalty percentages
Royalty rates, up-front costs, and author investments for projects using the hybrid model are calculated based on the specific details of each publishing project.
Traditional Model:
The traditional model enables authors to become published with no author investment in up-front costs, however the associated standard royalty rates are lower than with the hybrid model.
Hybrid Model:
Authors invest in up-front costs with the hybrid model, however associated hybrid royalty rates are higher than with the traditional model. The hybrid model blends financial aspects of traditional publishing, which requires no author investment, with self-publishing, which requires full author investment.
